The next face-to-face meeting of the Alaska Health Care Commission has been set for Friday, November 6 – Saturday, November 7. It will be held in Anchorage at the Frontier Building (3601 C Street). A teleconference number will be provided for those outside of Anchorage, and an agenda will be available in approximately two weeks.
Thank you for your patience during transitions within the Department of Health & Social Services that impacted the commission. My role as Acting Director for the Division of Public Health ended Friday, and I’m just wrapping up some final work for public health and moving back into the world of health care reform and should be fully back on board with the commission next week.
Dr. Ward Hurlburt started this past month as the new Chief Medical Officer for the department and Director for the Division of Public Health. As DHSS CMO he will take over as Chair of the Health Care Commission. In case you missed the announcement regarding Dr. Hurlburt’s appointment I’m attaching a copy of the department’s press release, which provides a little information on his background. The division, department and commission are fortunate to have him on board and are already benefiting from his many years of experience and expertise as an administrator and medical director in both the public health and private health care sectors.
Please contact me if you have any questions about or information for the Alaska Health Care Commission.
Thank you,
Deborah Erickson
